  15. SoundJudgment and how it operates
  16. ---------------------------------

  18. SoundJudgment automatically detects and, optionally, deletes specific unauthorized file types 
  19. (MP3, MPEG, QuickTime (MOV), Windows Media Audio (WMA), Windows Media Video (WMV), 
  20. and Microsoft ASF, Wave, and AVI) and P2P file-sharing application clients from network servers 
  21. and individual employees' workstations. SoundJudgment's SmartSearch technology finds the files, 
  22. even if they have been renamed or hidden inside compressed files.  
  23. With SoundJudgment, an organization can keep its network ready for work by preserving 
  24. critical IT resources for business use. SoundJudgment complements other solutions 
  25. often used to control music swapping and nuisance file types like MP3s and the others listed 
  26. above, such as firewalls, internet access monitors, and network application priority switches, 
  27. by detecting files that circumvent these tools. SoundJudgment catches unauthorized files 
  28. regardless of how they enter the network.

  30. SoundJudgment is an essential component of ApreoFlex which includes ApreoFlex (RTC), 
  31. AntiGame Plus and SoundJudgment and provides a complete methodology for effectively managing 
  32. appropriate employee use of corporate resources while preserving the performance of business 
  33. applications.  ApreoFlex is a must for those organizations wishing to enable a flexible use

  36. SoundJudgment runs in two modes: in display mode and stealth (unattended mode).  
  37. In display mode, SoundJudgment is a full GUI application. Searches are defined and controlled 
  38. through the user interface; run on demand; and results appear immediately. 
  39. Stealth mode is used to scan user PCs invisibly. Stealth mode searches are defined through 
  40. a configuration file.  
  41. SoundJudgment executes when the configuration file is accessed by a user logon script. 
  42. Stealth-mode search results are stored in a log file or sent by e-mail.

  44. SoundJudgment executes from a login script and NEVER requires the installation of software 
  45. on the client (user) workstation.  An installation using the default configuration is typically 
  46. completed and running in less than an hour.

  66. SoundJudgment operates with Windows95/98/Me and Windows NT/2K/XP. All major PC
  67. networks are supported, including Novell, Windows NT and Windows 2000. Internet 
  68. explorer v4.0 or up is required for viewing the help file.

  70. The SoundJudgment software is downloaded from the Apreo web site, and includes 
  71. an Installation Wizard, QuickStart guide and Help File to assist with program set-up.
  72. The installation is done on a central file server. No SoundJudgment software is required 
  73. on user workstations to search local drives.
